Privacy policy

You do not need an account to read anything here. We do not require a login to see a club profile, a ranking or a review.

Our hosting provider records standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages are useful. We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to advertisers.

We store:

• the display name you choose, your rating, and the text you write — all public;
• your stated connection to the club (member, guest, and so on) — public;
• a one-way hash of your email address, if you give one, used only to detect duplicate and coordinated submissions. We cannot recover the address from it, and it is never displayed or emailed;
• a salted hash derived from your connection, for rate limiting. This is not a stored IP address and cannot be reversed into one.

If you ask us to verify your membership, any document you send is reviewed and then deleted. We keep the verification result, not the evidence.

We store what you told us and, if you provided one, an email address so we can ask a follow-up question. That address is used for that purpose only. It is not added to any mailing list.

• Abuse-prevention hashes: 30 days.
• Correction correspondence: until the correction is resolved, then 12 months.
• Published reviews: retained while published. Ask and we will remove yours.
• Membership verification documents: deleted after review.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR; we apply the same process to everyone regardless.

Our community site is run separately and has its own privacy policy, because the considerations there are different. If you post anonymously, read that one — it explains exactly what is and is not stored.

How anonymity works there

If we change this policy materially we will say so on this page rather than quietly updating a date.
